Established in 2008, European Maritime Day (EMD) is the annual EU event for maritime affairs and sustainable blue growth, known as the meeting point for “Ocean Leaders”. EMD fosters project partnerships, raises awareness about sustainable ocean management, and offers stakeholders a chance to network, gain visibility, and contribute to European Maritime Policy. This year the conference was held in Svendborg, Denmark.

The event drew in 1250 people from all of Europe and was a good place to showcase the MobiSpaces project and its results. The MobiSpaces stand was positioned on the 3rd floor during the two days there was lots interest in project and the three maritime use cases. We were also in very good company among other EU funded projects such as EU Horizon Nautilos which focuses on making marine sensors.

One of the main take-aways was the emphasis on gathering marine data on one portal, such as Copernicus (Satellite data), EDITO-Infra: European Digital Twin Ocean, European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) were all trying to accomplish this.

The 3 maritime use cases in MobiSpaces was represented by Niels Bo Nielsen (GST, UC#5), Nikos Karamolegkos (Kpler, UC#3) and Rita Giuffrida (Trust-IT) who also was the moderator on " WS A-3. Observations to knowledge: Unlocking Ocean Insights
